Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What types of therapeutic massage are available?
A: If you just want to be pampered in order to relax and remove stress, I recommend a relaxing Swedish Massage. The Swedish Massage is a light soft massage designed to relax you, hydrate and moisten your skin, calm the nerves, and promote lymph and blood circulation. If you have some soreness or pain from an accident or injury then you may wish to consider receiving therapeutic Deep Tissue Massage. This massage is designed to help address specific problems and is more healing in nature.
Q: How much will I be exposed?
A: Unless you instruct me otherwise, I will ALWAYS provide the maximum amount of draping during your massage to ensure you the most privacy possible. What will be exposed depends primarily on your level of comfort and the areas you agree to have worked on. It’s a simple fact that some people are very modest and some are not. The truth of the matter is that it’s really ok to be either.
Q: What areas of the body will be worked during the massage?
A: Normally, all external parts of the body can be worked during a massage including the neck, back, gluts (or buttocks), legs, feet, arms, chest, and stomach. Please note that for women, the breasts will be covered and only the upper chest muscles will be worked. This will require no more exposure than would be equivalent to what is revealed when wearing a typical bra. Therapeutic breast massage is available upon request but normally is not part of the massage. The areas of the body that WILL NEVER be worked are anything internally invasive, the genitals, and the anal region. If you have areas that you would like to not have worked, please let your therapist know prior to begining your massage.
Q: Should I tell my therapist(s) if I have any contraindications, cancer, or some type of contagious condition?
A: Absolutely! A good rule of thumb is to inform your therapist of any condition that is out of the ordinary. Your medical situation may seem quite simple or irrelevant to you, but the therapist is trained to understand this condition in quite a different way with regards to the types of techniques that should or should not be used. So always provide a complete and thorough history when you visit.
Q: Why is it important to tell my therapist what medications I'm taking and whether or not I've been drinking?
A: One of the benefits of massage is increased blood circulation. So, whatever is present in your system at the time of the massage could rapidly spread to all parts of the body and possibly intensify the desired effect beyond safe levels. This is true for alcohol, medications, and any contagious condition that might be present (i.e. colds, flu, fever, infections, etc.).
Q: What areas can I have worked on if I ask especially for them?
A: We provide professional and medically oriented massages for "therapeutic reasons only". If you are genuinely seeking true therapy to help with chronic aches or pains, preventative procedures, or you just wish to relax, we will work with you to help accomplish your goal. We DO NOT and WILL NOT perform any sexually oriented massages ANYTIME. If you are looking for that type of massage there are other establishments that will accommodate you. WE WILL NOT!
